There’s always something exciting about trying a brand-new hotel and spa, especially when it’s one of the newest additions to Fort Lauderdale. Naturally, I had to plan a spa day at Omni Fort Lauderdale Hotel and experience the newly opened Mokara Spa for myself.

My husband and I visited on a Tuesday during the weekday, which ended up being the perfect choice for a relaxing spa escape.

One thing I also appreciated is that you do not need to be staying at the hotel to enjoy the spa. Guests can either purchase a day pass for access to the spa amenities or book a treatment and receive access to enjoy the facilities for the entire day. I always think that’s a huge plus, especially for locals looking for a relaxing staycation-style spa day without booking an overnight stay.

First Impressions

From the moment we arrived, the experience felt elevated. Complimentary valet was included, which is always a welcomed perk, and the valet staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming.

Although the hotel itself was busy due to a conference happening onsite, the spa felt completely separate from the energy of the resort.

Despite the large crowds throughout the hotel, the spa itself felt serene, peaceful, and private. When we arrived that morning, there was only one other couple there, making the entire space feel like our own little oasis tucked inside the city.

The spa receptionist warmly checked us in, and a spa attendant gave my husband a full tour of the men’s locker room before we changed into our robes and headed to the relaxation area together.

A Spa Designed for Couples

One thing I especially appreciated about Mokara Spa was how co-ed friendly many of the amenities were. When enjoying a spa day with your significant other, it’s such a better experience when you can actually relax together rather than spending the entire day separated in gender-specific areas.

We immediately settled into their heated lounge chairs, which were honestly one of my favorite parts of the entire experience. I’ve been to many spas where the heated loungers barely feel warm, but these were incredibly cozy, perfectly heated, and so comfortable that I laid there for almost 45 minutes before even wanting to move.

It truly felt like heaven.

The relaxation area also featured a lovely self-serve beverage cart with sparkling wine, orange juice, and white wine so guests could make their own mimosas. I skipped the mimosa, but my husband enjoyed one and thought it was a fun and thoughtful touch.

There were also complimentary snacks including cookies and chocolate-covered oranges. While I appreciated having snacks available, I would have loved to see a few healthier options as well — perhaps nuts, granola, or hydrating wellness-focused bites. Whenever I spend a day at the spa, I try to lean toward lighter, nourishing foods that help me continue feeling refreshed throughout the day.

The Treatments

For my service, I booked the Mokara Custom Massage, while my husband chose the  Mokara Custom Facial using Babor skincare products — a luxury skincare line commonly found at high-end resorts and spas.

Both of our treatments were under $200 each, which I found extremely reasonable considering the quality of the services, the beautiful facilities, and the fact that spa access for the entire day was included.

In South Florida, many high-end spas charge similar pricing simply for access to a relaxation lounge, sauna, or steam room, so the value here really stood out to me.

The treatment rooms themselves were stunning, spacious, calming, beautifully designed, and equipped with modern touches that immediately made the experience feel luxurious. The artwork, soft lighting, calming music, and incredibly comfortable treatment beds created such a peaceful environment.

After my massage, I was served a mint iced tea in the most beautiful glass with gold trim. It sounds like such a small detail, but moments like that truly elevate the experience. The tea was refreshing, cooling, and the perfect way to transition back into relaxation mode after my treatment.

Spa Amenities & Relaxation

After our services, my husband and I spent time enjoying the hot tub, steam room, sauna, and relaxation lounge. We honestly could have stayed there for hours just listening to the calming spa music and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere together.

The spa does an excellent job of creating an environment that feels luxurious without feeling overly pretentious. It’s polished, calming, and approachable all at once.

Rooftop Pool & Lunch with a View

Around lunchtime, we decided to head upstairs to the rooftop pool for some sunshine and lunch. The rooftop area was absolutely stunning!

The pool itself is large, beautifully maintained, and offers incredible panoramic views of downtown Fort Lauderdale, the ocean, and the bridge leading toward Fort Lauderdale Beach. Even though the pool deck wasn’t crowded, the rooftop restaurant and bar were quite busy because of the conference happening at the hotel.

Still, service moved surprisingly quickly. I ordered the shrimp ceviche and a Caesar salad from the bar, and since it happened to be Cinco de Mayo, we both decided to enjoy skinny margaritas as well. Everything was light, fresh, and flavorful — exactly the kind of meal I like having during a spa day.

Because of the lunch rush, there wasn’t initially much poolside service available, but once things slowed down, an attendant came over to check on us and see if we needed anything additional.

Even with the activity around us, the rooftop still felt relaxing thanks to the gorgeous views and open atmosphere.

Final Thoughts

After spending a few more hours at the pool, we returned to the locker rooms to shower and get ready before heading home completely refreshed.

The locker rooms were stocked with all of the spa essentials you would expect, shampoo, conditioner, toiletries, and everything needed to comfortably get ready.

Overall, I was genuinely impressed with Mokara Spa at Omni Fort Lauderdale. It combines the upscale spa experience with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, and I truly believe it’s an excellent value compared to many other South Florida spas.

Fort Lauderdale continues to advance its wellness scene, and this spa is absolutely a welcome addition.

With Fort Lauderdale Spa Month coming up in September, I’m looking forward to returning to see what specials and seasonal offerings they introduce for the local community.
